In 2010, San Luis Obispo was identified as the "Happiest City in America" by author Dan Buettner in his book "Thrive: Finding Happiness the Blue Zones Way". In early 2011 Oprah Winfrey also showcased the findings of this book on her television program. While San Luis Obispo is indeed, a wonderful place to live for many individuals, the harsh reality is that for many of its homeless residents this is not the case…
The documentary "Homeless Not Hopeless" was written & co-directed by Jason Reed, co-directed, filmed, edited and narrated by Christina Bearce (of Highlight Media). Financial support was provided by the San Luis Obispo Homeless Services Oversight Council (HSOC). The purpose of the documentary is to raise awareness about the plight of the homeless, reduce stigma & misconception, showcase beneficial services and propose potential solutions.
